Toftemo is situatet along the E6 highway, two kilometers north of Dovre centre, 10 kilometers south of Dombås. The place was originally part of the Tofte Kongsgård (King's farm) and was built in 1820. It has been operatet as a coach station and inn since then. King Haakon VII, Queen Maude and Crown Prince Olav stayed overnight here in 1906 in connection with the King and Queen's coronation.
